AM2+

It'll handle the current set of dual core processors, and the current quad core "Phenom" processors. AM2 sockets are probably more common, but many of them can be upgraded to AM2+ with a BIOS flash. (It's an earlier iteration of the socket designed for dual core processors. The socket design isn't really different from AM2+, which is why a BIOS update is all it takes to add quad core support in many instances.)
