sudo apt-get update pidgin

Not working

I know pidgin is not right, I need to know exactly what Pidgin is called or wants to be called on it.

apt-get update only makes sure that apt knows what the latest packages are. apt-get upgrade actually does the updating. However, it doesn't do just one package. It only does all of them. If I knew how to pick and choose, I'd tell you; it's one of the things about apt that drives me crazy, but that's the only way I know how to do it.

Wouldn't it be a tiny bit easier to self compile? Debian tends to be good with that.
