So... yeah. This keyboard is [censored].

Not "The [censored]," just [censored].

I'm using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000, which runs about fifty bucks or so at Best Buy. It's really nice for all the features it carries like volume control, keybind slots, mute, and yes, the calculator button that I use quite often.

But yeah, they're getting a bit more complex these days. And you'll likely get ones like the one I have that have tons of functions you don't need.

yeah, extra features can be nice but when they come at the expense of ease of use, usually it is to big a trade for my blood. honestly I would still be using the keyboard off of my old tandy 1000sl if I wasnt to lazy to rig it up.

*edit* missed a bunch of "s"'s post looked like it should have been on engrish..

This keyboard has a few shortcut buttons but most of them open up the wrong programs. >_> The wrong email dealie, the wrong messenger, the wrong media player, the wrong internet browser... The only nice thing I've noticed is that the play/pause/skip buttons can affect iTunes while it's minimized.

And if I didn't need another thing to whine about, the F buttons are in groups of three instead of four.

The only keys that fail to work well are the Internet ones. They always open up Internet Explorer. Evil thing.

well extra keys can be nice, but honestly about three third's of the time any keyboard made for "gaming" will most likely shift the keys around to make it more annoying than just a fifteen dollar normal keyboard is better, there are a few that are made for "gaming" and are quite exceptional and handy, but their often expensive and fragile. Plus for all those other shortkey's, i always thought the mouse worked just as well :|

Yeah, Firefox is my default but my keyboard hasn't done well in listening. It's a Microsoft keyboard so I think the software I installed with it defaults to IE just out of corporate spite.

Also, my computer remains awesome. :)

Yeah, I think that, most of the time, the bindings are defined for the keyboard -- they don't look up your defaults. You should be able to change those key bindings though, through the software that came with the keyboard.

You can use the F-Lock to switch between the two functions of the those keys.

Those buttons with 3 functions on it actually have 2.
SysRq is only used by a few mostly old software and will replace the Print Screen function but you will probably never use it.

Pause and Break are just the same thing with a different name.

So use the F-Lock to chose between Insert-Print Screen and ScrLK(Scroll Lock)-Pause and just ignore SysRq and Break.

Thank yahz.
