The higher end motherboards do support Crossfire. And they're not as expensive at the Crosshair II. The 790FX, GX, X all support Crossfire. The most expensive one of these is about 150 dollars.

Well, I have had some horrible luck with older ATI cards(two completely different models dying on me), and an older, yet more powerful Nvidia card I have(FX5950 Ultra) still works perfectly, I decided two things: One, Nvidia is probably good, and Two, I want to get a top-end card when I get a card. I looked around, and the 8800Ultra was kind of out of my price range, and it seems that the 8800GTX is nearly the same card, but just slower - So, I figure I can overclock it and get any extra needed performance.

Screen wise, I am currently using a single 17", 1280X1024(because a 19" one has the same number of pixels). I just want high(>70fps) framerates.

This isn't 2006 dude...there's faster cards now from nVidia.

The newest GTX 260 is about 200-240 dollars, and is pretty good compared to the 8800GTX. Granted, this is the newest "refresh" of graphics card since 2006, when the 8800GTX/Ultra came out. Everything else (9800GT/GTX, blah blah blah) has just been rehashes.

Or you could go with the rehashes, 9800gtx/gtx+ for about 50 dollars less than the GTX 260. Slightly slower performance, but heck, at 17", it's not gonna matter much.
