The ride was dusty, hot and dull. It took hours to get to the site from the nearest town, and after about two you had to leave the roads. Alexandria looked out over the scenery. Dust, sand, more dust, and some sand for flavoring. It was not what she'd signed up for. If you were to ask her, the reason she signed up was to be an action movie hero. The caravan of trucks that they had been a part of made a few turns before coming upon a camp in what passed for a valley in the desert. They stopped, and soldiers like her got out of the jeeps, along with almost twice their number in lawyers. Work was funny like that. It's incredibly likely that section 5 of the orginization has already secured the area, so instead of capturing the device, I figure we should just comb the area for some backup plans and get to work assembling it here. Any questions?"

Under the shifting sands, the device whirred.
