Okay, so I have an idea for an RP, but I have no idea if it would be at all viable. Essentially, the premise is that a number of people wake up with no memories in a strange world (cliché, I know) and they set out to discover themselves. However, along with the post-apocalyptic environment and dangerous wildlife to deal with, these individuals are threatened by a mysterious foe, who seems bent on hunting them down and killing them. The setting is a world almost enveloped by forestry and the ruins of great cities. There will, however, be post-modern technology involve in more than one way as well as some older technologies. Anachronism is a fun element to play with (Medieval and Sci-fi?!).

The focus is on the personality interaction of the characters as they have to make decisions that may end in their demise, or their salvation. Another important theme is how they see themselves, each other, and how they think about the world, as they are essentially 'born' into the world fully grown and immediately put in danger. In a word: Existentialism. I realize that some of us are extraordinarily shallow. If you are one of these people, then this RP's probably not for you. Also, there will be a reasonable chance for the players to die, though probably not many, and not often.

It is essentially a survival-adventure story (if that can even be a genre), with emphasis on the adventure more than survival (death is a possibility, and can be arbitrary or random if I so choose, but it will probably not happen often).

Thoughts?

Hmm.... I might be interested. Honestly, my joining may depend on who else joins. Or it may not. In any case, I don't know how I'd play in this kind of world, and may have to wait to see how others handle it, just as a guide line. Sound idea so far.

Not often and not many? Where's the horror if you know only one of the five is going to die, and you plan on kicking your allies knee's in the first sign of an "Oh [censored] run!" moment?

I never said horror was going to be a part of it, but in all likelihood, if one player is to die, then the first sign of an "Oh [censored] run!" moment would probably be them dying in some fashion or another. The threat comes from not knowing when or who, or if your character is going to die. And odds are if your every plan is to throw away an ally, odds are you'll be ostracized from the group and be made a prime candidate for a little karmic justice. Or not. Ya don't know...

I like this idea, it seem quite character focused and I like character driven stuff rather then plot fluff anyway. I'll join.

I could use the experience....I'm a shallow guy  (characterwise anyways, I need practise writing in depth characters and get away form the 'one-type' rut)

I'm in.

Plot fluff, hehe.

From what I can gather:

1) No magic.
2) Majority uses only 'Dark Ages' items, though modern and better stuff do exist in isolated spaces.
3) Something wants them dead.
4) Amnesiac (Though unknown whether 'Cloud' or 'Jason Bourne' type)

Nope, no magic (though, as per the rules, some technology is sufficiently advanced that it may seem like magic).
'Dark Ages' technology is most prevalent, yes, and most of the modern and future tech is either immobile, or aligned against you, so don't expect many chances to use it.
Something/someone/some group does want them dead.
The amnesia is neither 'Cloud', nor 'Bourne' type. They have absolutely no idea about any sort of life before they awoke. There is no possibility of recovering their memories at all, though their past (assuming they even have one) could be revealed to them somehow during the RP. I'm not sure yet.

Obviously I'm still hammering out some of the details.
