Right.

Seeing as my real world role playing group has all but dissolved into nothing (Work and school, go figure) I need to find some way to get out my creative energies. The RP’s on this forum have been helping, but I think they are only treating the symptoms, not the source. To properly get exorcise this problem, I have to assume a position similar to what I did before, GM.

So naturally I should try and run a RP, right?

I’m not sure if this is good timing, but now or never right? I already have the general setting I want to run (If you’ve been over by the drawing board you already know my obsession with Magipunk. It’s going to be something like that) But I don’t know the genre I should do. The genre is going to be really important, especially because I am going to throw together a loose plot to keep things organized.

So that’s when I decided I might take a cue from Lhoti and put together a poll. It will at least tell me how many people are interested without me actually having to write up a thread. I can do that later when I have a reasonable chance of it succeeding.

Depending on the genre, the potential RP could be either comedic, or dramatic. I’m happy with both outcomes

The potential choices are:

A)Heroic Fantasy: The BBEG has kidnapped the King! Are you bad enough dudes to stop them? (More or less)

B)Crime Drama: It’s like cops and robbers, except with magic!

C)Wacky College: It’s college, and it’s wacky!

D)Survival/horror: I don’t even know how I’d pull this one off. But it would be fantastic if I did

Personally, I'm getting kinda sick of the other kinds of RPs. I don't like doing fights all the time, hence why I play sneaky [censored] (who either don't start fights, or end them quickly) or pacifists. Usually.

My vote is for wacky college or survival horror, because they don't involve as much a chance of fighting.

My actual vote went to college, because you seem to know more about what you're doing with that one.

why does everyone misspell my name? :?:

anyway, I agree with Kilroy, we've got enough fighting threads, a nice interaction one wouldn't be too bad. (and yes, I'm interested)

survival horror sounds like a fantstic idea. Lots of cowering in the dark and people reaching their breaking point. Drama, and lots of it.

I spell you name right Lohti

That's a weird saying.
And honestly, I like pretty much anything that isn't completely generic.(STARE AT HEROIC FANTASY)

So I'd go with Lohti/Kilroy/Nuff/Mirku's plan.
So either-
OH GOD I'M GONNA DIE [CENSORED][CENSORED][CENSORED]
or
Hey guys, I'm a wacky dude with a wacky wack! HEY WHY ARE YOU WALKING AWAY.

the saying means that first you hate someone, then you dispose of them, then you drink cool lemon-lime beverages afterward.

My post from Lohti's thread:

Same. With all the characters, preferably, baseline Human / whatever race it features.

That way teamwork is actually worth the effort, instead of just soloing the mooks like Mr. Smith or some other action flick hero.

Of what you suggested, survival horror. Everyone is also baseline, they have NO special powers, none are military / police trained, none have weapons, etc. Five random schmucks, something they (preferably) CANNOT defeat in a fight, etc.

Fantasy is done too often in general, and the fights are too absurd.

Interaction based RP's can be nice, but often times they involve fighting anyways. Worse, the interactions tend to be so false, it isn't even funny. While Fantasy RP's tend to be a character showing off their combat abilities, these tend to be the showing off of Class, tastes, lifestyle, etc.

Crime... could be interesting. Though the creator would need to have a set outcome, not be involved in the case itself (or manage their posts well), keep the outcome hidden and unexpected, etc. Better yet, purposely mislead. One of the things I was thinking of doing for a fantasy RP was two characters, one a prick but sincere, the other kind but a backstabber. Guess who'd get accused of being the spy, killed, and then revealed at the end to have been loyal?

College... no. I have enough of school as is.

Keep in mind that nearly all of these options would have a twist, just a little something personal of my own invention. When I do finally decide though, I won’t be able to post anything until Monday, seeing as I have work over the weekends.

I want to make it clear that I would only be GMing though. No PC, only NPC’s. (And if it’s survival horror, whatever unspecified menace that harasses the characters) It seems the most popular so far is Survival horror, so I’m going to have to do some thinking about how I’d pull that off. If anything, I’ll take some cues from the Shalebridge Cradle (If anyone knows what that is they know how creepy it is)

But I digress, I have another question to add. What time period would you people want? Present? 1920’s? Medieval? Or perhaps you’d like some fantastic elements along with your genre, like Sci-fi, or perhaps some dungeon punk? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DungeonPunk (Sorry, it has really grown on me)

I can do all of the genre’s with any time period or extra theme’s, but I want to know if anyone is particularly interested in that. You have direct say in what I devise!

hmm... a sci-fi college thing would be nice, and even if we went survival-horror, a sci-fi theme would look good.

But please, continue what you're doing
