"Such as a amazing discovery, another world... pristine, untouched. The populace is primitive, the resources are rich... and we are the only ones who know about it. It is all there for the taking."
-Memo's of Kukov Vissilyanoch Zakhaev

Story: It is the year 2010 AD. Russia is in a fragile state, despite a remarkable economic recovery since the fall of the USSR, it is still one of the poorest developed nations in the world. Its citizens often go hungry, its military is a shadow of its former self, and the Russian Mafia is still strong as ever.

Then things get interesting...

A ultra-nationalist named Kukov is swept into power by blaming the current government for Russia's ills. With popular civilian AND military support, he rises to become the President of Russia. Civil liberties are repressed, opposition shipped off to work camps, and the economy is made top priority.

Russia's economy soon recovers thanks to a spike in oil prices. The men of the Russian Military finally get their paychecks for the first time in two decades. Equipment is modernized, economic infrastructure is rebuilt. Things are looking up for Russia... and Kukov.

One day, Kukov is approached by a scientist who says he made a startling discovery: he found a way to breach into another Universe. Kukov didnt laugh him out like any sensible person would... but heard the scientist out. And it was true.

That changed Kukov's plans. Originally he planned to reacquire territory lost by the Soviet Union in Central Asia and the Cacauses. But now he had a new goal: conquer this new world and use its resources for Russia itself.

The Universe, according to the scientist, is like that of a fantasy land. Magic exists, as do legendary creatures, such as dragons. And there are three main species... called Human, Basitin, and Keidran.

So, the gears grind onwards as preperations are made for the first interuniversal invasion. Would it succeed? Would it fail? And what effects will it have on both worlds? Only time(and you) can tell.

Summary: Basically, a revived, Totalitarianistic Russia finds a way into the TwoKinds world and is planning to launch a full scale invasion of it. You can play as almost anything within the bounds of the story and rules. Want to be a Russian soldier? Done. A free Keidran? Sure. A Templar? Go ahead.

Rules:
1. With the exception of NPCs, try not to kill other peoples characters without their permission.
2. NPCs can be freely created and killed off by anybody. They do not require a character sheet.
3. The high ranking individuals of the Russian Government(IE: Kukov, his cabinet, the Russian generals/admirals, etc.) are off limits to everybody except me and those picked by me.
4. This occurs in the TwoKinds world about 50 years before the beginning of the comic. Therefore, Trace, Flora, etc. etc. have not been born and will not be a factor.
5. As the GM, all characters I RP will be, unless stated otherwise, NPCs.
6. You can have more then one character. Just please make it clear when your using each character.

This sounds cool. Could we play a char. for each side... Like i make a char for twokinds world and one for the russian military?

This is the one i really want to do.

Name: Kit Lance
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 25
Organization**: Was once a great templar
Weapon: Quarter staff that has some unnoticeable ruins on them. Three throwing daggers.
Magic?: Yes. Very good at Templar magic and born with the ability to use elemental magic effectively.
Appearance: 5'11" Medium build. Hair is spiked up and is sliver and red through the hair. His eyes are cover by a blind fold that is a deep blue.
Bio: Born into a rich family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was blind from birth but given instead was his ability to control the elementals around him. His parents noticed that he was giving off a very good sense of magic, and set him to become a templar. He raised in the ranks quickly because of his abilities. By the age of 21, he had a great position and was highly regarded and well like. But this didn't last long, his brother Baiye got jealous. He set up Kit so that he could get away with getting Kit's position and Kit took the fall. With a little heart from one of his friends that he made higher up, he is still connected to the templar magic. But now Kit is walking around with little or no money trying to make his way through the world.

oh and PS... PLEASE let this one stay alive for a bit longer then my other ones have.

This isn't meant to be critical, but wouldn't a platoon of T-80 tanks utterly destroy anything the Two Kinds world has to offer? From a story stand point shouldn't there be a limit to the technology brought with the Russians to even out any PC battles? Magic is great and all but I would put money on the RPG over a spell any day.

Grand point... and one I hadnt really considered indepth.

It might have been better had I gone with my alternate idea, in which NATO(and some Russian rebels) shows up to offer covert assistance and training to the TwoKinds world.

Another counterpoint that could be argued is that the Twokinds worlds infrastructure is horrid by modern standards. The initial offensive would rely on a huge logistical train, and would probably recieve no air support apart from helicopters due to the fact that the Twokinds world has no places for modern aircraft to land.

And yet that wouldnt be enough of a counterpoint... perhaps a numerical limit on the amount of forces the Russians can bring?

The easiest limit I can think of is a restriction of technology brought in to the new world. Kukov wouldn't want to expose this world to a lot of technology nor reduce his military forces on Earth. Both could lead to disaster. He knows magic exists and might be fearful of losing expensive tanks and such gear to grouips who can use magic. You could always include the NATO counter point as well. ITs your role play so whatever you want goes.

((I didn't read anywhere about any standard gear, outfitting for basic Russian Soldiers or the divisions, so I am making it up, please correct me if you want to change it, and since you control the army.))

Russian Military Personnel Sheet:
Name: Yuri Avarosky
Gender: Male
Service: Army
Rank: Conscript
Weapon: Standard Modernized Scoped AK-47 with Standard Bayonet
Vehicle: None
Appearance: An average sized Russian, with hazel coloured shoulder length hair, tied up into a pony tail when on tour. He wears the standard brown military camouflage. His AK-47 has notches in the wood to indicate how many enemies he killed in the name of the motherland.
Bio: A new hot shot soldier joining the cause to bring back the glory of Russia during the Cold War. (or what he was TOLD the glory of Russia, since the Cold War ended a year after he was born) He grew up in an industrial town, a bike ride from a former munitions factory. Every boy at that time had their very own AK-47, so often he would go with his friends to a factory in search for a crate of ammunition to shoot cans. While most boys stopped wasting their times, Yuri stayed and eventually dropped out of High School to spend his days, either by the docks lifting crates, at the Tavern drinking himself blind or at the old factory (by the age of 17, he managed to get enough money from a temporary absence of alcohol for a truck, so he could drive down there) shooting targets he made from broken crates. By the time the War Machine started, he was happy enough to get drafted and join the army. Given a new gun and everything, he went off with the 32nd Infantry riding with the 22nd Armor Division for the glory of the motherland.

This is the most original RP idea I've seen on this forum for a long time - in fact, it's almost funny.

Russia invading TwoKinds? Hell yes!

And I'd like to add my two cence on the problem of such advanced technology in such an archaic world. For one, the UN and/or NATO would be a bit iffy over Russia 'booming' in such a small period of time, so they would have their eyes very closely trained on the country's dealings. Put it this way, if Russia suddenly scrambled an invasion force and subsequintly made them 'disappear' into thin air, eyebrows are going to be raised. I doubt Kukov wants that, and I'll bet he'll be wanting to find out more about his new land before he rolls a battalion of gung-ho Russian troops into his little 'Stargate'. So, how about he sends some Special Forces through first, with the intention of keeping them there for a few months to scout the place out? It'll keep it more personal for the players, more managable for the GM and less overwhelming for everyone.
Oh, and remember, the Russians will be speaking... well, Russian, and the TwoKinds inhabitants (whats the name of their land again?) will be speaking English ('cept it'll be called 'Common' or something). It'd be nice if our characters, rather coincidently, knew some English. Keep that in mind for your character sheets, people.

Anyway, I'm off to think of a character; consider about what I've said, Mr. GM.

Perhaps this "portal" takes power to maintain, so the Russian troops are isolated except for occasional supply runs or something. Alternately, perhaps higher mass requires more power to push it into the other universe, making tanks-n-such cost prohibitive. Oh, and I'm thinking about joining this as a Keidran, a somewhat unstable Keidran. I can change this if you think it doesn't fit. Honestly I'm tempted to go with a Necromancer of some sort, but I don't think that'd fit well into your story, so for now just look over this profile and give me feedback if you would be so kind.

Name: Jessica
Gender: Female
Race: Keidran
Organization: Not technically a part of anything, but she has ties to a local group of thieves.
Weapon: A magically poisonous dagger, claws, teeth, five throwing knives.
Magic?: Yes, but mostly things like emergency healing, invisibility and low level telekinesis. (Can't knock a man back in a pinch, but can't actually magically harm anyone.)
Appearance: Black fur, lithe and wiry frame, piercing green eyes, has a leather holster for her dagger strapped to the inside of her leg at all times, other attire possible.
Bio: When she was a child, she was sold to an upper class family as a slave. Before she was old enough to be properly indoctrinated the family was robbed and killed by a group of bandits. Unable to understand what had happened at such a young age, once hunger set in her former providers of food simply became food themselves. This experience desensitized her to violence, and once she left the residence of her former owners, she became a true predator. From the ages of 5-8 she lived entirely off the land, learning which animals were good to eat and where to hide from the larger ones. At the age of 9 she stumbled upon the camp of a group of thieves, recognizing her natural stealth was a godsend, they trained her in a few spells the would aid her and bartered for the loot she gained from her kills. Now at age 12, she has claimed countless unwary travelers, earning a reputation among the local peasants as a "spirit of destruction" for her phantom-like stealth.

EDIT: She also speaks somewhat fluent common, and extremely broken Keidran (As in, she'd most likely only know simple words.)

Name: Nikolai Deversky
Gender: Male
Service: Army, Spetsnaz
Rank: Corporal
Weapon: Ak-101 (modern AK-47), GP-30 (underslung Grenade Launcher), MR-444 (Pistol), Knife
Vehicle: None
Appearance: Nikolai stands at 5'10" and weighs about 125 pounds. He has dark hair and is always in his fatigues. He is basically a poster boy for the Spentsnaz unit in his appearnce. He is never without a weapon.
Bio: Nikolai has served with the Spetsnaz since he was inducted at age 19. Three years later and he has yet to see any real action, but he seems to be ready for the upcoming intrusion into a new world. His family was disappeared after they were found lacking nationalism. In response he has become an extreme patriot and his devotion to the Motherland is great.

Name: Theo Alexander
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Service: N/A, foreign ex-Special Forces.
Weapons: AK74M (rifle), Browning Hi-Power (pistol) + 3x AK74 mags, 2x Hi-Power mags.
Vehicle: N/A
Appearance: Short, black hair; a kind of half-arsed goatee around his mouth; green eyes; fairly musclular build, but not noticeably so (he ain't a bloody Super Saiyan); about 6'0", roughly; wears British DPM (camo) jacket and trousers, as well as an assortment of Russian gear, including a large rucksack and various survival equipment (tent, rations, etc).
Bio: Theo was a former member of the UK's elite SAS regiment, where he spent several long years training in the harshest conditions with various weapon systems and rifles. After numerous operations in danger spots across the world, he left the regiment. Frustrated and sliding into debt, his services were called upon by none other than Russia to train select soldiers and spetsnaz units in secret for a special mission. His reward for doing so was simply unrefusable. Of course, Theo also wanted nothing more than to get back to doing what he loved, and having no family or close friends in the UK solidified the deal. After being whisked away to Russia and training various troops, Theo was eventually offered to accompany an initial scouting team on the very mission he had been training these foreign soldiers for. But even he, after signing countless documents ensuring he kept his mouth shut, wasn't prepared for what they were about to show him. It would be very hard keeping his mouth shut should he ever return to the UK. That is assuming the Russians ever let him leave the country now...

Alright, we have a excellent cast of characters.

I want one or two more characters for the TwoKinds world to join up though.

As for the whole technology disparity, we'll go with the idea of a special forces team sent in first to scout the place out.

Also, rules will be updated momentarily... so you might want to check the first post.
