Deiter turned to his squadmates in the back of the truck. His Sergeant turned up the Portable Television strapped to the seat. The squad all leaned in as Lazerus gave his speech: "...Even now, our CrusadenKampf Soldiers march toward our neighboring lands to the east and west. Soon these beasts shall be wiped from this, God's earth. But they can not do it alone. I call upon all of the Fatherland's people, as well as our sympathizers in other lands, to rise up! Rise up against the Anthros! Those furry demons have done the devil's work too long! Victory shall be ours!"
"Hail Lazerus!" Shouted the soldiers in the truck, as well as the neighboring one. Dieter didnt really care about this "Holy war" or "Anthros" or any of that. He just fought whoever his Fuerher told him to.
It was a perfect day. Too nice to be fighting, but there was no real way to change that. The Fuehrer wouldnt call off a war for a little sunshine.
A shreak sliced through the air and a mortar blast landed on the nearby truck, which errupted in a mass of smoke and fire. Deiter's squad hopped out of the back and sides of the truck, and none too soon. Their truck was soon after hit by another round from the mortar. The mortar began peppering the hillside that sloped into the Potolov town.
Dieter's sergeant called his men forward. "We must move forward! The hill is much to exposed!"
"Ja Oberfeldwebel," confirmed the squad, who immediately began moving forward and downhill.
One of the building's windows swung open and a machine gunner -- an anthro -- began spraying at the squad. As the rest of the squad ran, Dieter took a knee and aimed at the machine gunner's window. He sprayed a few rounds which peppered the gunner's wall. It didnt hit him, but it sure enough got his attention.
As the Anthro turned to shoot Dieter, a shot hit the window sill, exploding and shattering the wall below the window into a cloud of dust. An APC had fired it's 25mm cannon at the gunner. Dieter wasted no time catching up to the squad who had found shelter at the base of the structure. They were trying to piece things together.
"Herr Oberfeldwebel, where is our preliminary airstrikes or air support?"
"They were held up by pockets of AAA's and SAM's that our satalites missed. They should catch up with us at some point."
"Some point?! We need them now!"
"Private, get a hold of yourself. We must do our duty, and right now, that duty is eliminating these blasted mortars," The Sergeant turned to Dietrich Koffman, "Koffman, take your detatchment up the middle. I will take my squad down the road to the left and we will meet up in the town square as planned. It is likely that the mortars will be there. Hopefully one of us will destroy them first."
Dieter saluted and replied, "Ja, Herr Oberfeldwebel!"

Billy stepped off out of the plane at the Dardansk International Airport in Dardansk City. He filed in with the rest of the class as customs checked them in. This place seemed tense. There were more guards than usual, or at least it appeared so. You could never tell in foreign countries what their "usual" was.
The soldiers from the Motherland Communist Federation had already taken up defense of Dardansk. It was not their home turf, but it was a communist country on their border that was at risk of attack from the Fatherlanders.
"Class, file in in front of the gate. A trolley will soon come with our luggage."
"Yes missus Hinkle" the students droned in unicen.
There was an uproar in the airport. Civilians and guards gathered around the Televisions positioned in terminal waiting rooms. Billy walked over to the nearest television despite the protest of his teacher.
A speech was being given by the leader of the Fatherland. A man named Lazerus. The speech was said in the Fatherland Dialect, with a Motherland dialect subtitle underneath. Billy had been taking Fatherland Language classes and understood most of what was being said.
"...Even now, our CrusadenKampf Soldiers march toward our neighboring lands to the east and west.
Billy heard the roar of Jet engines overhead. It was not unusual to hear that sort of thing, this being an airport, but these engines sounded different. They sounded more high pitched and passed overhead much faster, although the jets still sounded very high up. As Billy looked up through the glass roof of the terminal, he saw the jet trails of the planes as they moved on.
Explosions erupted all around, the glass above shattered as bombs fell through them. The entire airport erupted in chaos as survivors of the attack evacuated the ravaged airport en masse.
As the din of the explosions faded, screaming and fire alarms filled Billy's hearing.
