So, after thinking a bit about the semi-continuity between some of the RP's here, I was wondering about some stuff.

The idea is rather simple: We work together to create a fictional world, it's history, it's people, etc. I figure we should start with creation myths and pantheons before moving onto a fantasy time period, a more modern one, and one in the future. This thread will be renamed once we have a name for our world/universe/multiverse.

Fantasy timeline so far:
Gods:Thascal(Chaos), Demur (Law), Kane (Warriors/Strategists) Zirizlivm (Basilisks/Lies), Cael'siril (Life/Prosperity).
Myths:
Pyshics/Rules:Magic is controlled by will, and motions just help the caster focus. Properly crafted magic items almost never fail, and are much more reliable but extremely rare. Gods are powered by belief, and grant some of that power to their followers upon their death.

History:
First War-Thascal and Demur get in a fight over the world. They die, their followers die, and the world is rebuilt by the other gods into what it is today (fantasy time).

So, get cracking. I'm working on some gods, most notably a Cosmic Horror whose's corpse resides somewhere.

Once we get some work done on this, creating RP's based off of it would be more than welcome.

Thascal:God of chaos and insanity. Deceased.

Thascal is no longer with us. Be thankful for that. He (?) was a being of immense power, and was slain by Nemesis and the Arbiter. From what we can gather of ancient texts, his form was truly massive, dwarfing entire cities. His presence was terrible to behold, and caused mass destruction just by arriving. Currently his remains are deep below the earth, as are those of the other beings killed during the first war. There are numerous cults dedicated to reviving him/finding his corpse, and this is a generally BAD THING.

Seriously, can someone else say something? it kinda defeats the purpose if I'm the only one here.

I'm trying to work on SOMETHING here.
I'm leaning towards working out some races and cultural differences (advantages, disadvantages, general appearance, etc)

Right then.

THE FIRST WORLD

It's not entirely clear how the universe and Gods came to be. Many gods proclaim to be the one true god, the father of all the others, etc, etc. As far as the historical evidence shows, all are lying through their teeth. The evidence left over from the first world demonstrates this.

From what we can gather, the world as we know it is a rather new creation of the gods, and is not more than a few million years old. The world before that is known as "The First World." Few artifacts from that period remain, because not long after civilization arised, two gods chanced across the world. They were Thascal and the Demur, gods of Chaos and Law. They got into a fight. Both died. There wasn't that much life left afterwards.

The other gods, upon coming across the steaming hellhole and few living things that were left, got to work making stuff. The combined efforts of the other gods have left the remains of Thascal and Demur buried beneath the earth and locked inside the moon, respectively.

Summary:
The world existed for a while, Thascal and Demur ran upon it, they fought, people died, they died, the other gods found it, they buried Thascal and Demur, they made the world as it is now.

Now, OOC information, the kind of thing that nobody except the gods would know in-game.

The gods are incredibly powerful beings representing cosmic forces. They gain power through followers, and because the world was split between them, Thascal and Demur were turned into ridiculously powerful beings who could easily destroy lesser gods. Gods can also come into being if a new race is created. A key example of this is the creation of vampires by the god of the undead leading to the birth of the Scarlet Mistress. A possible game would be to have the players be gods or demi-gods trying to work together and gain followers.

So yeah, those are the basic rules that gods follow, along with the creation of the world. I'll get to work on some other members of the pantheon. And remember that well Thascal is definitely not a good person to meet, that doesn't mean Demur is any better. Give me some time and i'll do the basics of magic.

oook....so, you play as a god? does that mean the "all-powerful, topple moutains by flicking them" god, or simply "I'm the most powerful one of you, so I'm god! *insert evil cackle here*" god?

I'm guessing it's "A god who controls certain aspects and has a passage/pope/hero/etc." Type god.

Mmm, not sure. But again, it's one of several ideas on how you could base a game off of this. And the powerlevel for gods varies a bit; I think that usually they'll limited to anything they're based on. So a god of vampires is a super-vamp, Undead god is a ridiculously powerful necromancer/lich, etc. And remember, there is always a bigger fish. So shutting up and staying quiet is how many deities approach life.

>.< wow, your talk brings up an interesting chicken v. egg thought: who created who? did gods create beings in their image, or did people believe in a god with their image, and one fitting the bill became powerful enough to be called such?

An excellent question. Do you want me to actually answer it, or just be vague and enigmatic? Because I thought up a reply once I read it, but it's rather...dull.

I'll take that as a "Leave it enigmatic".

Wonder if one of the mods will sticky this...
