He looks like he's somewhere between a cat and a dog...

Can someone please properly define the differences between the traits of a feline and a canine?

Does anyone know if Keith has ever retracted his claws?

That would tell me if he's a cat or not...

Some cats do not have retractable claws so I dont think that will help.

He's a Basitin. There's no clear analogue. He's whatever a Basitin would be like, were they rendered significantly closer to "animal." But to your question, this is a good place where you can see a close up of both Keith and Natani's hands. Natani's claws are clearly visible while Keith's are not.

Visible claws on an athro are often used on women just to have the whole long "fingernails" look so that doesnt exactly mean anything as far as claws go but yeah- its been mentioned time and time again that bastins are generally a unique kinda race that cant be associated with any particular animal.

*sigh* Clearly, Basitins have claws which can be visible. That, and while you have to look more closely, Zen has visible claws as well.
