I have a question... in each of the cases of non-human species it gives a geographical location to which they are associated *eastern basitins* or *costal fox clan*
does this mean that there are other societies of basitins and kiedran? and do they each live under different rules from the other?
Here's how it works:
For Basitins, it's rather simple. There are Eastern Basitins - which are the ones you've seen so far - and there are Western Basitins, which haven't appeared in the comic. The East and West Basitins are in a constant state of war, and have been for centuries. This is why they're such a powerful warrior race. They never stop fighting, and they don't want to stop fighting. They enjoy their constant war so much, that if one side is losing too much ground, the other will let up and allow them to build their forces again so that it may continue. The two Basitin sides only fight together when something threatens them as a whole; and you don't want to have to face the entire Basitin race in a fight.
The Keidran are more complicated. Keidran are broken up into clans, which consists of their various species. For example: Dog clan, Tiger clan, and Wolf clan. They are further broken up into tribes contained in that clan, usually named after the geographic location of the tribe. For example: Swamp Tiger Tribe, Rainforest Tiger Tribe, Coastal Tiger Tribe.
So, if you're a Wolf, you belong to the Wolf Clan. Then, if you live in the northern forest, your tribe is probably referred to as the "Northern Forest Wolf Tribe." Keidran do not usually have last names because Keidran children are typically raised by the tribe as a whole, rather then a family unit. So, Keidran are identified by their Tribe instead.
In short: Clan > Tribe > Individual.
