I'm not generally of the opinion that Tom's work on redoing the early comics needs a forum topic, but I'm making an exception this time because he's made something clear that I've wondered long about. The Mask in comic 4 is confirmed by his commentary on DeviantArt to be Ephemural. I'd long been of the camp that doubted this, but between his comments (which make it absolutely clear), the color, and the mask redesign so that it matches current appearance, there can be no more doubt. Actually, now that this is clear, it makes Ephemural's plot much more interesting -- it wasn't simply taking advantage of the situation, rather it was an engineering from whole cloth. The rewrite of the dialogue also makes it clear that the amnesia was not any plan of Trace's, but was also Euphemural's doing. An awful lot actually changed with this one, and much was made more clear.

This should provide the forums with a lot more to chew on now, and we know that a few of our paths of discussion were dead ends. Thanks, Tom.

Incidentally, it looks great. Keep it up.

The revamp is great as always. It's very noticibly better than the original but very much LOOKS like the original too. Though I did miss the revamped third page until I looked at the fourth.

I'd say certain shots of Trace might actually look better in the old form, mostly due to the fact that the original's eyes weren't so striking. But others like the second panel look even more fantastic.

The old version of Flora also did look slightly cuter, if not more like a catgirl as well. Now she looks like a younger version of her current self. Plus she's lost that 'hurt' expression, making that 'whimper' kind of out of place. She's not cringing, she just looks surprised.

And good job on the backgrounds. The old ones kept reminding me of my Pokemon games. The last panel has a fantastic effect, but I think it might actually be creating lighting discrepancies on Trace.

Can we comment on #3 here too?

...or should it have its own thread?

'Cause Tom's edit in the 3rd frame TOTALLY cleared up something that has been bothering me for a loooong time...

Something I wonder, will Tom replace the comics in the Archive with the colored ones when he finishes them all? It would be interesting, no?

Maybe an alternate section? Or a design similar to the one previously used by Alpha-Shade, in which a button at the side allowed for you to see the actual storyboards used? Just so you could compare the two if you felt like it.
