And there it is. Proof that the Basitin speak their own language (and apparently nearly all of them speak Human), and that it will be designated in the comic differently from Keidran. Thank you, Tom.

A hole cow? Now that's my kind of meal!
And it's nice to see a Basitin that isn't grey.

That depends on how she pronounces it, I suppose. It's like writing the dialog for a Southerner using "sugah." This appears to be a highly colloquial Basitin. Makes one wonder how bad Keith's accent used to be.

I sort of imagine the butcher woman to have a Scottish type accent...not sure why...interesting though. Was surprised to see the comic was out already though, I don't usually catch it until 10 or so at night.

Because you used it as one? And did you know that its against the rules to dodge the filter?

Hmm, interesting new character. I wonder why she looks so different from what we've seen so far...maybe they've gotten into a different part of town?

Several things I note:

- She's not pregnant, lol...
- She's not acting in a, "Oh look, a Keidran, I'm so much better than it" fashion.
- Trace apparently has no sense of monetary value...at least, not in this society. I hope he doesn't get ripped off.
- The buildings look very Oriental.

She reminds me of a Gypsy, personally.

:x Tom stole one of my character names! *sulk*

I only need to ask this, why in the world would she need a hair net on for? She has hair, like, all over her body! That still won't protect our meat from getting hair in them. In fact, if you find hair strands in your meals to be disgusting than her shop wouldn't be one of your first choices.

Pure gold always allow a good dialog with the merchant, mint state human gold piece must be really rare. In the past, clip the edge of a piece to recuperate a little of the precious metal was common. This is why there are a scale on the counter. Some was also putting a core of non-precious metal and try to make them look like used coin but the forger were well equipped and this fake coins looked used not in mint condition.

About the language, I suppose that this port is the main commercial entrance to the basitin,s archipelago, maybe the only legal one. Maybe trading with human is the main income of the town so during the season where the human usualy come (we are out of the usual season apparently, merchant probably make even more trade with human that with basitin during the good season.) Money as so often is the motor of the motivation. Merchant want be rich so they learn to talk and trade with the humans.

Keith pourrait en devenir un s'il decide de rester sur l'archipel.

S.P.P.

Look at Flora's face !, its hilarious!!! XD

I like the butcher, she seems real nice, the type of person who'll tell them (Trace and Flora) whats really going on at the Island, a 'down to earth' sorta person

Also, blood fans rejoice

In DnD the most commonly used currency among commoners is copper. 10 Copper = a Silver, 10 Silver = 1 Gold and 10 gold = 1 Platinum. A good house might cost 500 gold while a commoner house could probably be bought for 50-100 gold over a period of time. A good dinner would usually cost a Silver, that includes a cup of wine and freshly cooked meat. However a common dinner is 3 copper.

So thats one form fantasy currency. But hear is a similar one from Vanguard, but in Vanguard 100 Copper = 1 silver - 100 silver = 1 gold. A plot for a house costs 10 gold unless you're in the middle of nowhere.

With this in mind- if a single gold coin bought an entire cow - or equivalent I would say Trace has been ripped off - in the nicest way, the woman is at least trying to give him what its worth without wreaking her self by giving him all the food...
